Royal Family Kids Camps of Racine County
Children are hurting in Racine County. These children are the victims of abuse, abandonment and neglect. These are children that are currently in the foster care system.
How do we reach these children? Basically, we do whatever it takes to show abused, abandoned and neglected kids unconditional love and acceptance in a safe, friendly and FUN environment.
Royal Family Kids' Camp is an annual five-day camp specifically designed to meet the overwhelming and unique emotional needs of abused and/or neglected 7 to 11 year old children in foster care. All campers experience a week of positive memories, undivided attention and patient wisdom from trained, caring adults. This is our sixth year for the Racine camp. In 2006, with the help of more than 7,000 volunteers, RFKC reached close to 6,000 kids at 150 camps. We are truly grateful for another summer of dynamic outreach to hurting kids!
Royal Family Kids' Camps offer more than just the traditional summer camp experience.
Yes, we have the swimming, hiking, and games and good food. We also give out unlimited hugs ... compliments and positive memories to last a life time!
Our camp volunteers give of themselves to build self-esteem and confidence in our campers ... to provide a week free of fear ... and establish hope for a bright future.

Camp starts out pretty much one sided. The children arrive needy. Counselors and staff are there to give the much needed time and attention. Food is plentiful and there is no shortage of activities. The kids absorb and take it all in. In a few days there is a shift. The children begin to imitate what they are being shown. They are sometimes desperate to give something back that is tangible. But what can they give? They only arrived with their clothes. Rodney solved that problem. He gave what was in his hand - a balloon. Looking up into his counselor's face, he handed him his balloon and said, “I want to give this to you because you did something nice for me.” It made his counselor's day.
This is what Royal Family Kids' Camps are all about!
Inviting hurting kids to be a part of a “royal family” for one week - where they feel totally protected and cared for ... so that their lives are never the same again, despite their abusive circumstances.
We want to take as many of these children to camp this year as we can. Our goal for this year is to take 32 kids to camp with us. The cost for this year’s camp will run close to $32,000. This covers the cost of the camp itself, transportation for the kids, training for the adults, and gifts that we give each child at camp.
Racine RFKC is totally funded by the fund-raising efforts of our staff and volunteers. We do this through activities such as our annual rummage sale, chili dinner, basket auction, and our mission’s window. But each year, we rely on individuals, corporations, and businesses to generously fund this worthwhile endeavor.

Every $1000 sponsorship enables another abused, neglected, or abandoned child to experience love, caring, understanding, and a chance to learn in a great outdoors setting?
